It is expected to retail for $225,000 after homologation.
After the public perception that the Saleen1 supercar had left us in 2017, Saleen Automotive unveiled a new concept car to compete in GT4 racing series around the world. The new track car, known as the Saleen GT4 Concept Race Car is expected to revive Saleen’s reputation for GT racing.
Although the Saleen GT4 Concept is heavily based on the Road-Going Saleen 1, the company made some modifications to it in order for it to conform with the GT4 series specifications.
The GT4 Concept receives a new front splitter, fenders, and rear diffuser, which improve aerodynamics. For maximum downforce, traction and compliance with GT4 specifications, a large rear wing has been added. GT4 Concept Car also features front and rear antilock brake systems, and other GT4-specific equipment.
The track-only concept has two seats and the turbocharged, 2.2-liter four cylinder engine. It produces 450 horsepower (336 Kilowatts) as well as 350 pound-feet (474 Newton meters) of torque. The Saleen 1 supercar’s distinctive features include the lightweight chassis and carbon-fiber bodywork.
Steve Saleen, founder and CEO of Saleen Automotive, stated that the Saleen 1 was designed to be capable on the track and adapt easily to racing applications. “The track is where our reputation and racing DNA was born. Our company was founded on this foundation. We are looking forward to seeing the cars competing at GT4 events all around the globe after the homologation process is completed with SRO.
The Saleen GT4 racecar is currently in the SRO homologation phase. Once it’s done, each example should be valued at $225,000
