According to reports, the name was on FCA’s media website for just enough time for someone to take a screenshot.
For Jeep enthusiasts who are eagerly waiting for a new Pickup, here’s some bad news. Don’t worry, there’s still a Jeep truck coming, but according to a post over at JeepScramblerForum.com it won’t be called the Scrambler. The new off-roader will be called Gladiator. The name was apparently briefly displayed on FCA’s media site, where an eagle-eyed person saw it. The forum post states that this section was removed quickly, but not before the screenshot was allegedly taken.
This screengrab looks very similar to FCA’s media site. There is also genuine Jeep history with Gladiator names to back this up. It was used in Jeep pickups throughout the 1960s and was also used for the Jeep Gladiator concept vehicle back in 2005.
Furthermore, JeepScramblerForum.com cites a “trusted” source as confirming the information to be accurate. The Scrambler forum plans to change its name in the next few days. According to the forum, it received confirmation from Gladiator on submodels, including the Sport, Overland, Rubicon. This sounds like it could be the real deal.
We must still proceed informally until Jeep confirms our suspicions. Although it is not difficult to alter the photo above, it would be no problem for us to do so. We won’t have long to wait for official confirmation as this eagerly awaited pickup will be unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show in just two weeks. We expect it to be worth the wait, regardless of whether it is called Gladiator or something else.
