Monterey Car Week will host the premiere of the first SCG003CS road-registered.
Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus is now a Low Volume Manufacturer, which means that it can keep its hypercars off American roads. The boutique American automaker has been granted this status by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. This designation allows SCG to build up 325 vehicles per year. These exclusive vehicles are priced at $2 million.
Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus offers three versions of its hypercar. The SCG003S Stradale is the street-tuned model; the SCG003C Competition (Competizione), is the track-only, racing version; and the SCG003CS Competizione Stradale is the hardcore competition model that can be legally driven on the roads. On August 18, 2017, the first road-registered CS will be unveiled at the Quail Motorsports Gathering, Monterey Car Week.
SCG can produce up to 325 hypercars per year. However, SCG intends to make far fewer of them. For the 2018 model year, the company plans to produce between four and six SCG003s and eight to ten next year.
The SCG003S will be equipped with a biturbo, 4.4-liter V8 that produces over 750 horsepower and 590 pounds-feet torque. It also has a seven-speed dual clutch gearbox. According to the company, the hypercar can reach 60 mph (100 km/h) in 2.9 seconds and can travel up to 217 mph (top speed). The vehicle’s carbon fiber chassis allows it to weigh in at less than 2,866 lbs.
The Honda-sourced biturbo-3.5-liter V6 is used in the SCG003C racecar (above). The coupe’s performance balance allows it to produce around 500 horsepower and 2.5g in corners thanks to the high-downforce bodywork. It has already won a class at the 24 Hours of the Nurburgring. SCG estimates that the racer would cover Nordschleife in 6 mins and 33 secs. This indicates that the street version of the car could be the fastest ever produced around the Green Hell.
