Scion tC Driver Takes a Selfie as Her Car Sinks into Frozen River

Oh, Canada.

Some parts of the globe have winter temperatures that are so cold they can create ice roads for drivers. This can be dangerous even in the best of circumstances. But it is safe to say that driving down a frozen river in southeast Ontario in a SciontC is not the best option. What about taking a selfie when the inevitable happens. Best doesn’t allow you to take a selfie when the inevitable happens.

Yet, we have this report by CTV News of an individual doing exactly these things, complete with video footage showing a yellow Scion driving past people and children at speeds of around 40 mph. It took place in Manotick, 15 miles south-east of Ottawa at 4:30 p.m. on January 16. Witnesses witnessed the tC drive down the Rideau River, finally entering a narrow section of ice. After the car broke through the ice, the driver got on top of the car and took a photo. The car then began to sink.

According to the report, the driver was an unidentified female charged with one count of dangerous driving. The fine and costs of getting the car out the river are not mentioned. Local residents helped her to safety with a kayak, rope and quick thinking. But the strange story does not end there. Witnesses claim that the woman was having fun and would do it again. We don’t think it’s possible to crash a car through the ice and escape narrowly, crazy. You should not attempt such things at your home, it goes without saying. This is especially true for rivers, where the currents are often faster than larger lakes.
