The color is not known by a name, but it is one of the most intricate shades ever created by the luxury brand.
You wouldn’t be surprised to see this Rolls-Royce Boat Tail sporting a brown paint job. We don’t really know what it is called. The ultra-luxury brand hasn’t given an official name, but we know that it blends several shades inspired by pearl shells in the buyer’s collection. It is the centerpiece of the stunning Rolls-Royce Boat Tail 2, the second-of-three that will be built.
The new coachbuilt Boat Tail – also known as the “next chapter”, will make its public debut at the Concorso d’Eleganza in Villa d’Este, Italy. The buyer of the second remains anonymous, but Rolls-Royce says that the family has a history working in the pearling business. The pearl connection to the exterior finish is where this comes in, as the individual presented four shells for inspiration to the automaker.
This result is one the most complicated Rolls-Royce Bespoke finishes. It consists of oyster and softrose for the foundation, with flakes from white and bronze added. This combination creates a pearlescent effect that has a color-shifting quality. However, this is only the primary shade of the car. The hood is a darker cognac with some bronze and gold added. The rear features walnut veneer and rose gold pinstripes. The overall impression is beige with a touch of rose, set off by the darker, contrasting color. We think it looks amazing in the photos and even more impressive in person.
Interiors are influenced by pearl shells and feature more cognac, walnut, rose gold and mother-of-pearl accents. Rolls-Royce was actually provided with mother-of-pearl by the Boat Tail owner to be used during construction. This vehicle, which is coachbuilt by hand, uses aluminum extensively, just like the original model. Yes, that umbrella and picnic area are part of the design.
Alex Innes, Rolls-Royce’s head of coachbuild design, stated that every Rolls-Royce Coachbuild project is, of course incredibly unique. We took this responsibility very seriously. “Creating a motor vehicle in the honor of a respected client’s father is an extraordinary privilege. It is inspiring to see the deep-rooted connection of Boat Tail to the commissioning patron. The result has evolved to be a moving piece of art and more than a vehicle.
Rolls-Royce has not yet revealed the price of this second Boat Tail. However, the original Boat Tail was reported to have been $28 million. This exclusive lineup has one more.
