This is a wonderful birthday gift.
Porsche produced only one 911 Speedster in the production run of the 993-generation. It was given to Ferdinand Alexander “Butzi”, Porsche, as a 60th birthday gift. It was fitting to present Butzi with a unique gift because of his leadership role in the design of the 911.
Butzi also designed and built the Porsche 904 racecar. In 1972, he left Porsche to create the Porsche Design Studio.
Butzi’s 911 Speedster comes in Aventurine Green. This is a deep and forest-like color. The dashboard’s lower portion is decorated with wood trim and chocolatey-dark brown leather upholstery. The 911 RS seats are used for the seating.
A four-speed Tiptronic gearbox is available. Although this might not be the best choice for enthusiasts, it is an option for someone like Butzi who is getting older and needs to make motoring easier.
The Porsche team used a 993 convertible to create the unique vehicle. They then added the windshield and tonneau covers from a 964-gen 911 Speedster. The engine, a 3.6-liter flat six air-cooled from a Tiptronic equipped Carrera, produces 282 horsepower (210kilowatts) or 285 metric horses.
Butzi Porsche didn’t drive his custom 911 Speedster very much. The odometer currently shows 2,085 km (1,296 mi) This car is part of the Porsche family collection so it’s a rare opportunity to see it.
It is worth noting that the company also makes a second 993-gen 911 Speedster. However, this Speedster was made later. Jerry Seinfeld owned the car, which was originally a convertible. He sent the car to Porsche Exclusive in the late 1990s for conversion. Some differences were made from Butzi’s like the wider fenders and widebody layout.
