Can there be a replacement for displacement?
All indications point to Chevrolet’s intention to retire the Camaro within the next few years. Chevy’s performance car is in trouble. This drag race shows how LT1 models compete against the Toyota Supra’s 3.0-liter turbocharged engines.
The Camaro LT1 was introduced for the 2020 model-year. It is a trim level that comes with a V8 engine below the SS grade. The engine produces 455 horsepower (339 Kilowatts) as well as 455 pound-feet (622 Newton-meters). The buyer can choose between the 6-speed manual and the 10-speed auto that is shown in the video.
The Camaro will challenge a 2021 Toyota Supra equipped with the turbocharged inline-6 engine. It produces 382 horsepower (285 kW) as well as 368 lb.ft (499 Nm). The mill has an eight speed automatic. A manual is now available for the six-pot mill starting with the model year 2023.
The competition begins with a drag race. The Camaro driver spins tires off the track, which is enough to win the Supra an easy victory. Toyota wins by several car lengths.

The future of the Camaro is uncertain. Rumours abound that Chevy will make a high-performance edition to mark its departure. According to the latest reports, the model will use the 6.2-liter LT2V8 from the C8 Corvette. Alternate speculation suggests that the Camaro ZL1 would get the 6.2-liter supercharged engine from the Cadillac CT5V Blackwing, which will increase the output to 668 horsepower (485 kW) instead of the current 650hp (485kW).
