Spoiler alert! Not much has changed.
Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is one of the Big 3 American automakers. It is not easy to compete against General Motors or Ford Motor Company. The Dodge Challenger, Charger Hellcats are all hot FCA stuff. However, the Chrysler 300C has fallen short. Cars Evolution shows the various shapes and sizes that the 300C has seen over its life.
The 300 was not a Challenger or Charger. It started its life as a family sedan. It didn’t appear to have any ambitions of being fast, based on the Chrysler LX platform. It was powered by a 2.7-liter V6 engine that produced 190 horsepower (141 megawatts). Although this might seem unimpressive, it was not the end of Chrysler’s life. Ralph Gilles, who led the design team for the 2014 SRT Viper, designed the base car.
After humble beginnings, a C version of the 300 gave the vehicle a big improvement in straight-line-performance. The V6 was gone and replaced by a 5.7-liter HEMI V8 rated at 340 horsepower (253 kW). The 300C also received a five speed automatic transmission and other tech. The HEMI engine produced a respectable amount power but also featured cylinder deactivation technology which could improve the vehicle’s fuel economy by 20 percent. The SRT8 came out shortly after the HEMI engine was implemented. It boasted 470 horsepower (350 kW) under its hood.
It is difficult to forget how little the exterior has changed throughout the 300C’s history. Although there have been some minor changes, the 2020 car appears almost unchanged since its 2005 birth. Although some parts of the original design were streamlined in 2011, the overall aesthetic was largely unchanged.
