Please don’t attempt to break this record.

The top speed of most cars does not matter, except for bragging rights. Sustained travel at more than 100 mph (161 km/h) is almost impossible due to limits. Radim Passer, Bugatti Veyronowner, pushes the limits of high-velocity roads to the absolute limit. He hit 250.1 mph (402.5 km/h) in 2015 there. This video tells his story.

Passer set out to break the Autobahn’s 400-kph (249 mph) speed barrier. It took him many years to accomplish this feat. In May 2011, Passer made his first attempt. The temperature was too low that day and the Veyron computers refused to allow the car to reach top speed.

Passer made another attempt at the Autobahn one year later. This effort was also futile because a transmission problem again prevented the car from entering the top speed mode.

The third time was the charm. Passer drove his Veyron to Autobahn in 2015 and the hypercar reached 250.1 mph.

Passer dismisses any concern about these runs being dangerous because he chose a time and day when it was least likely that the road would be empty. However, it is possible for something to go wrong at high speeds and people could be put in danger. There are closed courses that allow Passer to drive high-speed in his Veyron.
