It’s a cool little detail that the record player is mounted on the wall.
We missed something at the SEMA show in November. Creative Mobile Interiors created a retro-modern version of a 1972 Chevrolet C30 camper, the ReRun. We wish we could have gotten inside. The video and photos below are however the best.
It was originally a Mitchell-converted C30 campervan. However, it was in terrible condition when Creative Mobile Interiors discovered it. Original plans were to restore the interior and keep the original. The team discovered that the walls had extensive dry rot when they removed the cabin. They could not be kept. Instead, 2,200 workers from the company spend their time creating a unique aluminum exterior and a living space that matches it.
Exterior now has a striking shade of green with aluminum accents. This color scheme is clearly inspired by vintage campers, but it still retains a modern look thanks to the minimal trimming.
This camper’s interior is the best. The interior uses the same exterior color as the upholstery and the cabinets have green accents. The TV is available for entertainment and the wall-mounted record player allows you to listen to your vinyl records. The cabin is powered by a four-kilowatt generator that can be used anywhere. Custom skylights with domed tops allow plenty of natural light to enter the cabin. A kitchenette is available for cooking and there’s a full bathroom to make it easy in the wilderness. A queen-sized bed is available in the alcove just above the driver’s compartment.
Under the hood, it’s just as good. Creative Mobile Interiors bore 0.30 inches into the original Chevy big block V8 of 402-cubic-inch (46.6-liter). The internals of the engine now have domed pistons and fuel injection replaces its original carb. Although the original four-speed manual transmission remains in place, it is now subject to a hydraulic clutch conversion.
The machine is a demonstration of what Creative Mobile Interiors can accomplish. However, the owner will only accept a $250,000 payment. It’s a lot of money, but there are other campers that are much more expensive and look just as cool.
