To make the twin-turbo V6 even more powerful, it gets upgraded turbos and an custom exhaust.
MagnaFlow exhaust specialists and Superformance replica car makers are teaming up to present the 2018 SEMA show. This will be an exciting mashup between the original Ford GT40 supercar and the current GT supercar they call the Future Forty. However, the teaser video from both companies doesn’t give much information about the fascinating show car.
Superformance’s MkI GT40 replicas are used as the project’s starting point. They feature a exact reproduction of the original monocoque roof and pressed steel roof. The driver now has a twin-turbo EcoBoost V6 engine with twin turbos from the modern GT. The mill is equipped with two larger Honeywell Garrett turbochargers as well as a Magnaflow exhaust. This powerplant produces 647 horsepower (483 kW) in the GT. However, the GT’s tuned version could produce even more output due to the additional boost and possibly freer flowing pipes.
The Future Forty gets a livery straight from the race car to match the new GT’s power. Ford won the class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2018 with the new supercar. The builders made the old-school racer look just like its modern sibling. We cannot wait to see the real deal.
Superformance recommends that MkI GT40 buyers fit their cars with a Rousch-crate engine and the company’s RBT/ZF 5-speed transaxle. There is still room to fit Ford-based V8s 289, 302, and 351W small blocks. There should be enough room for the twin-turbo, V6 to fit back there.
MagnaFlow will also be working with Superformance to create the Future Forty. MagnaFlow will also support Funk Flex at SEMA by providing a custom exhaust for a 1969 Dodge Charger equipped with a Hellcat supercharged 6.2-liter V8.
