This SUV shouldn’t be angry.
Do you want a dark, matte exterior? Check. Massive wheelbase? Yup. You can bulk up your fenders with mountain-eating offroad tires. All present and well taken care of. It appears that there is a new entry in the military-esque SUV universe. The name even includes special-forces terminology. Nighthawk, say hello.
The Zero to 60 Design and US Core Auto Group created this SUV. Ford enthusiasts will recognize a key bit as being part of the Super Duty. This intimidating people-mover is made from a Ford F-350 Lariat pickup. It has been custom-built to transform the pickup into an SUV.
The company’s press release, which you can see below, states that the Nighthawk’s theme was rugged and elegant. The exterior is business-like and a nod to military-spec vehicles. However, the interior is luxurious with “modern amenities normally reserved for European counterparts”. Although specific details are not given about the Nighthawk’s build, the six-person seating capacity and raised roof of five inches suggest that there is plenty of space for the occupants to spread out or that it is packed with high-end components.
We don’t know what the engine is, but the standard-issue equipment on a 2018 F-350 Lariat includes a 6.2-liter V8 that produces 385 horsepower (287kW), and an optional 6.7-liter Power Stroke turbo-diesel that pumps out 450 HP (336kW) and a staggering 935 pound-feet (1.268 Newton-meters), of torque. In-house, the custom bodywork was created by creating a CAD model and then designing the parts to fit perfectly.
The truck is quite impressive, we can’t deny it. We’ll be watching for further information at SEMA. Zero to 60 Designs has an opportunity to order a Nighthawk.
