This preview serves as a preview of the styling language that will be used by compact cars in the future. Its name comes from Latin “novatus”, which means “renewed” or “refreshed”. This angular-looking concept was created for the city. It is based on a Cerato/Forte platform modified, but has a completely new body with a shorter front overhang, a longer rear overhang, and a fastback roofline.
The company’s trademark tiger nose grille is retained, but it is now wider and is flanked with slim laser headlights. The prominent wheel arches and beefy side skirts, as well as the suicide doors with pop up handles, are all noticeable. The rear bumper features two chrome exhaust tips and slim interconnected taillights.
The interior of the Kia Novo is minimalist. It has a simple layout and very few buttons. The interior features a 3D Hologram display and a “blind Control” touch pad that is located near the steering wheel. From there, the driver can control most functions of the vehicle. The touch pad also has a fingerprint scanner that will recognize the driver’s fingerprint and automatically set his preferences.
A four-cylinder, turbocharged gasoline engine of 1.6-liter capacity is what drives the vehicle. The DCT transmits power to the front axle. The wheels are 20-inch alloy and have two contact points at their outer edges that reduce rolling resistance, as well as reducing road noise and providing increased grip.
Kia states that they don’t have plans for a production version, but that they have a history of delivering production vehicles with strong resemblances to the concept vehicles they preceded.
