The 992 911 Turbo S is more powerful than the original 930 Turbo.
After Porsche’s experiments with turbocharger technology for motorsport applications during the 1960s, the Porsche 930 Turbo was developed in 1972. It debuted in 1975. Turbochargers were a rare addition to engines during this period. Porsche initially built the 930 Turbos to homologate the Porsche 935 racing car. A production run of 400 units was planned. Porsche began to produce more than 1,000 units of the 930 Turbo, which quickly became a popular choice among enthusiasts. The Porsche 930 Turbo’s 3.0-liter turbocharged flat-6 motor produced 256 horsepower (191 milliwatts) and was accompanied by a 4-speed manual transmission, which sent power to the rear wheels.
Porsche developed the 911 Turbo to become the current 992 Porsche 911 Turbo S. The contrast between the Porsche 911 Turbo and the original Porsche 911 demonstrates the remarkable performance improvement for this top-tier 911 over the past 47 years.
