MustangsDaily.com, a California blog, reports that Carroll Shelby is working on several new “big dreamer” car models before retiring. One of these models could be the Shelby GT500 twin-turbo for $100,000. It will use the Shelby’s own 5.4-liter V8 and turbos to generate over 1,000 horsepower (746kW).

The engine would be coupled to a six speed manual transmission with a short throw shifter and paddle shifters. The blog states that the car will use Shelby/Baer six-piston front and rear brakes, as well as a variety of racing features. Safety loops on the unique driveshaft, front- and rear brake ducts, Ford Racing suspension, and drag axles are some of these features.

Due to the car’s track potential, it may also get a dual fuel system to allow for racing fuel. A widebody kit and vented hood would be included on the special Mustang. Also, 20-inch Alcoa wheels would be added. Even though carbon fiber bits helped reduce weight, premium stereo equipment and leather seats were still included.

A Shelby GTS package, which could cost up to $12,000., is another potential project. This kit would be available for the Mustang GT and V6 and include upgrades in brakes, front and rear fascias, new hoods, and a stepped-up exhaust. GTS options include bigger brakes, stronger suspension and Shelby/Eibach.

We’ll hopefully get more information on Shelby’s future, including whether the Shelby GT500 is the legendary legend’s last killer animal.
