Blue Polo versus red Golf.
Today, Volkswagen is the topic we are most interested in. Officially, the German brand announced that the next generation Golf would have a mildly hybrid version. They also took a look back at the first generation Jetta nearly forty years ago. It is now time to discuss its hot hatches.
Two hot hatches from Volkswagen are available today, just like Ford and Renault. The Polo GTI shares the same 2.0-liter turbocharged four cylinder gasoline engine. However, this is not the case with other competitors in the segment. The Polo GTI’s motor is slightly tuned.
Is power the most important aspect of drag racing? No. All factors are equally important. The folks at Car Mania We are comparing a Polo GTI (200-horsepower, 149-kilowatt) with a Golf GTI Performance (243-hp, 183-kW), both with dual-clutch DSG automated gearboxes and launch control.
The Polo’s launch control seems to be much more tuned. The Golf’s poor start is the reason why the GTI hatch won three drag races out of four. Although the driver’s change does not suffice to allow the larger brother to win, the GTI hatch wins the duel when the launch control system is working properly. Even so, the Polo GTI has a small advantage.
The video shows that the new Polo GTI really is a great car. Volkswagen didn’t go downsizing and instead installed a 2.0-liter turbo engine, which is a proven engine. Although we aren’t here to judge, the Polo GTI is our choice over the older Golf GTI. It’s usually cheaper, faster, and more reliable.
