It is far from being the prototype.
It has been some time since Volkswagen presented the ID Buzz Concept at 2017 North American International Auto Show. However, the German automaker has yet not revealed its passenger van production version. The ID Buzz Cargo, which was revealed in 2018, is a reliable workhorse. With the number of sightings, it seems that a complete reveal is imminent for the passenger version. albeit using a VW T6 test mule We have not yet seen the interior of the production, but we are hopeful.
The test mule disguises itself as the VW Transporter van, just like in the spy photos. A peek inside the cabin shows a different layout. This suggests that the vehicle is a testbed for ID Buzz’s future interior. The test mule has two screens in addition to the updated VW emblem on its steering wheel. It also features a knob-type selector for the gears near the cluster. This is the same one that you will find in the VWID.4. You’ll notice that the knob has a B mode. This is for more efficient regenerative brakes.
This interior could be used to test the instruments in the VWID Buzz. It is not the final layout. Although we expect it to look a lot more sleeker in the final version, one thing is certain – it’s not the futuristic ID Buzz layout. The VW ID Buzz will be revealed in 2022, but it will be first sold for European customers. For the 2024 model year, the US-spec version of VW ID Buzz will be revealed in 2023. It will come with a simplified lineup that includes a single wheelbase and a passenger van.
