According to reports, the track-only Tuatara Striker will make its debut at Pebble Beach in August.

At 282.9 mph, the SSC Tuatara has been officially named the fastest production car in the entire world. Because the factory-stock speed limit is not known, we emphasize . The Tuatara is, among other things, likely to be faster than the factory-stock version. It could even go faster if it gets an electrified all wheel-drive version.

According to Motor Authority, such a car is being considered. Jerod Shelby, founder of SSC and CEO, reportedly stated this in a recent interview. However, details about the project were not discussed. Some details were made public, including dual motors for front wheels. This would allow the hypercar all-wheel drive, but the status of the electrified Tuatara internal combustion engine is not known. It may not sport a Tuatara badge. This project is independent from standard Tuatara production. Deliveries are planned for 2025.

The report also includes a mention of the Tuatara Striker. The track-only Tuatara was first shown in May 2021. Now we know that the in-person debut will be made at Pebble Beach in August. Due to its large rear wing, front splitter and modified diffuser, the Striker can achieve speeds of over 160 mph with triple the downforce than the standard car. The powertrain is the same but the 1,750 horsepower (1.305 kilowatts), already available from the 5.9-liter twin-turbocharged 5.9 liter V8 mid-mounted engine doesn’t seem like an upgrade.

SSC set a new world record for top speed in 2020. This was achieved in two directions along a stretch of Nevada highway. The data was later proved to be incorrect and SSC has continued to push towards the 300-mph mark. SSC shared a video of the Tuatara hitting 295 mph at Johnny Bohmer Proving Grounds, Florida, a few days back. However, the speed was only achieved in one direction, so it is an unofficial benchmark.

Official top speed runs must be in opposing directions for a specified time to negate the effects that wind and elevation have on vehicles. These speeds are then combined, and the 304 mph one-way speed of the Bugatti Chiron super Sport 300 + is not officially recognized.
