The V12 is a little different.
Videos of a black Ferrari 812 Superfast testing emerged earlier this summer. Maranello-based Ferrari is known for being very secretive about future models. Even leaks are rare, so Ferrari’s intentions regarding the model are not clear. The evidence is mounting to show that this 812 is a special model, even though the latest video from Italy does not reveal much more than we have already seen.
This video shows that the company continues to work on something. However, we don’t yet know what something is. Although a Ferrari 812 GTO is possible. Those three letters have been used only three times in Ferrari’s history, the most recent being on the 599. A Ferrari 812 GTO would be a great car for such a unique name. This supercar already has a powerful V12 engine of 6.5-liters under its hood.
The stock 812 Superfast produces 789 horsepower (588 Kilowatts) as well as 530 pound-feet (718 Newton meters) of torque. It would be possible to tune the engine to 800 horsepower, and evidence suggests that this has already been done. Although the exhaust note coming out of the back is more prominent than it was before, this could indicate a new exhaust system. A more aggressive rear diffuser was also installed on the test vehicle, along with other aerodynamic tweaks.
The 812 GTO is a speculation at the moment, but Ferrari is working on something. The first video of the mysterious model was released. There were rumors Ferrari that it could be called the 812 VS for “versione speciale”, following other models such as the 375 MM Berlinetta Speciale or the 458 MM Speciale. Although we would be delighted to see a new GTO model with a hardcore engine, the chances of it being available this year are slim. We won’t likely see a Ferrari 812 Superfast in production until next year.
