It will debut next year.

Maserati won’t reveal the full GranTurismo Folgore electric car until next year. The luxury Italian brand wants to show it off. Over the weekend, the company teased the coupe and Maserati has released new photos showing Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares driving the car. These photos were taken by Maserati’s official twitter account. They show Tavares behind-the wheel giving a big thumbs-up to the camera and smiling big. These photos show Maserati’s future. However, it will not depart from the company’s iconic design language. GranTurismo Folgore’s new GranTurismo Folgore keeps its familiar GT shape and retains the brand’s iconic grille. The true heart of the brand’s future lies beneath the familiar-looking sheet metal – an all electric powertrain. Maserati Folgore, the company’s new brand, is set to be launched in March 2019. It hopes to have it in place by 2030. Electric models will remain in the lineup.

The GranTurismo Folgore powertrain details are not difficult to find. According to Maserati, the GranTurismo Folore will be powered by an 800-volt battery. This will deliver over 1,200 horsepower (894 kilowatts), to all four wheels. The coupe can travel 62 miles an hour (100 km per hour) in just three seconds. The top speed of the coupe could be as high as 190 mph (305 km per hour). GranTurismo Folgore will not be the only GT version available. The company will also launch a gas-powered version of the GranTurismo Folgore later in the year. The powertrain details are still unknown, but rumors suggest that the two-door might get the twin-turbocharged Nettuno 621 horsepower (or 456 kilowatts) from MC20. It will likely produce less power.

While we may have some information about the GT Folgore’s performance, Maserati did not provide all of it. We don’t know anything about the car’s electric range or how fast it will charge. The brand’s electrification efforts are just beginning. Next year, the Grecale crossover will also get an all-electric version. In 2025, electrified versions will be available for the Quattroporte and MC20. The brand will also become fully electric by the end the decade.
