Stolen RV leads to cops on a harrowing chase that’s caught on dashcam

Police were able to chase the suspects from the busy highway and narrow streets of their neighborhood.

A shocking video taken by the Ohio Highway Patrol on Wednesday captured a police chase through Summit County when a 24-year old man stole an RV. Video shows an RV speeding down the highway, before it exits onto the surface streets. The RV weaves through traffic and past motorists in an effort to evade authorities. The video clearly shows that the RV was not going to be let go by the officers.

The vehicle is seen in the video, the slide-out sections still extended, and the extension cord hanging behind it. It weaves through traffic at high speeds and crashes into cars without regard to traffic laws. The roads become narrower as the man weaves through commercial areas before trying to avoid police on narrow residential or subdivision streets. The man runs out of places to go and drives his RV through backyards, with the police behind him.

A canine unit helped police quickly capture him. The chase ended with police trying the PIT maneuver multiple times. However, the RV’s rear was damaged and the chase continued. The chase began when the Summit County Sheriff’s Office was notified about a man who attempted to steal vehicles in Green, Ohio. The man fled in his RV as police arrived.

Surprisingly this is not Schiffbauer’s first encounter with large vehicles or authorities. He stole a bulldozer from an area construction site in 2019. According to Fox8, the man took the bulldozer to Akron, Ohio where he destroyed cars and attempted to demolish houses. The man is being held by police on multiple charges, including felonious attack. There are no reports that anyone was seriously injured in the chase.
