Two V8s with supercharged engines battle it out.
The Shelby Super Snake convertible’s supercharged V8 produces 825 horsepower (615 Kilowatts) as well as 630 pound-feet (854 Nm) of torque. The Demon is ready for street use and produces 808 horsepower (602 kW) as well as 717 lb/ft (972Nm) of torque thanks to its supercharged, 6.2-liter V8. Both run on pump gas. It would seem that the Shelby, the lighter and more powerful, was ready to finish the Demon off in its rearview mirror.
The Demon’s first race proves that it can surpass all expectations. They get an even launch but the Dodge starts to pull away from the Shelby. The Dodge crossed the finish line by just a few car lengths. On its return to the start line, the Shelby went into limp mode. However, it was ready to go after cooling down. Although the Shelby had no advantage, the second race saw a rolling start. Again, the Shelby was defeated by the Dodge.
In the final race, the Dodge was replaced by a standard Audi S4 to compare with the Shelby. However, it was a very short race. Both cars launched from the line but the Mustang went into limp mode immediately while the Audi raced away. This is indicative of a bigger problem, which can be seen when you look closer at the car. It seems to make a little too much torque to the convertible’s chassis.
