Companies might also be considering an all-wheel drive sports coupe.

According to a report from Japan’s Top Car, Toyota now owns about 20% of Subaru. This deal could lead to close ties that could allow them to develop the next-generation Subie WrX. The new model is still many years away, according to rumours from Japan’s a href=”https://bestcarweb.jp/news/103253″>em>Best Car/em>/a>.

It is believed that Toyota and Subaru are working together to develop what Best Car calls “Super AWD”, but the rumor doesn’t give much detail. It could be connected to the Yaris WRC system. They are also allegedly working together on a platform for the new WRX.

This is What Subaru Is Doing:

The new WRX will not be available for a while. “Timing is a little awkward and we don’t have an exact date but definitely not next year,” Colin Christie (Managing Director Subaru Australia) told . We hope it will be in 2021.

An all-wheel-drive sports coupe developed by Subaru and Toyota is another thing to watch out for, according to Best Car. Although information is scarce, the vehicle is said to be a compact model that performs as well as the WrX STI.

Subaru has replaced the WRX STI in Japan by the limited-run Final Edition. As a tribute to its sponsor, the company will only make 555 copies. The turbocharged 2.0-liter EJ20 engine makes 304 horsepower (227kilowatts), and 422 Newton-meters (311 pounds-feet). It has all-wheel drive and a six-speed manual gearbox. These vehicles are also equipped with 19-inch BBS wheels in gold and Brembo brakes. In December, the STI will officially leave Japan.
