It’s the end of an era.
Since 2012, the Subaru BRZ sport car has been available in the U.S. The Scion FR/ Toyota86 sister cars have also been around in the U.S. since 2012. However, rumors are circulating about its replacement, and recent spy photographs showing an upgraded version of the vehicle at the Nurburgring make it appear that the eight-year-old coupe will soon be retiring to Germany.
Inside, the front two seats wear a blue-and-black leather-and-Alcantara mix, while blue stitching coats the instrument panel, door panels, gear shift lever, and steering wheel. New special edition badges are available throughout to highlight the limited spec BRZ and the appropriate “BRZ” badging on the floor mats. One thing that does not change is the center screen. The same 7.0 inch infotainment system from the base BRZ remains.
The 2.0-liter four-cylinder remains unchanged. The engine produces 205 horsepower (152 Kilowatts) with the six-speed manual gearbox and 156 poundfeet (221 Newton-meters), respectively. The automatic version produces 200 horses (150kW) and just 151 lb (205 Nm). This gearbox is an additional EUR1,700 ($1,888).
Subaru Germany is asking for EUR40,270, or approximately $44,000, to purchase the BRZ Final Edition – it’s not available in America. Japanese buyers can obtain a comparable specification on the Toyota 86, with the limited edition of 400 ” Black Limited” models. The BRZ model has some of the same features as the model in Japan. Buyers in the USA will have to settle for the current base model for the time being. Or, they might look at the classifieds for a BRZ tS.
