Subaru has already revealed a BRZ STI model, but details about the production model are beginning to emerge.

Atoshi Atake, global marketing manager, stated that there have been many requests from customers for a faster version of the BRZ in an interview with Auto Express. I can assure you that we will satisfy our customers. We are working on a faster version.

Although Atake did not go into details, he said that “We can definitely create the intake system.” A revised variable valve control system and a sports exhaust system are also possible. These modifications could allow the engine’s 2.0-liter four-cylinder to produce 250 horsepower (186 kW/ 253 PS).

What about the turbocharger? The turbocharger is reportedly no-go because there’s not enough space in the engine bay for an intercooler. Atake stated that turbocharging should be kept separate. This is true for models such as the WRX STI. He said, “The same applies to four-wheel drive.” Even if we wanted, the BRZ four wheel drive was not possible.

The model will be available with a sports-tuned suspension, 18-inch alloy wheels, and high-performance brakes, even though it does not have forced induction.
