Subaru-Engined VW Beetle is Not Your Average Custom Build

This Beetle is ready for action with a turbocharged Subaru EJ20 rear engine.

Adonis, an Volkswagen enthusiast had a dream: to build a Super Beetle which could race other cars in drag racing. Although he had owned a VW Beetle before, he wanted it faster. This image was his inspiration.

Inspired by this Speedhunters-themed Beetle, Adonis decided to follow his dream.

Adonis listened to the advice of many builders and began his project with a Super Beetle capable of handling the extra power. Although it was not an easy task, it was worth the effort. It took Adonis 10 Years to finish his Super Beetle. However, we believe the effort and the cost were well worth it.

Adonis used an Subaru engine boxer engine to jumpstart his crazy build. It’s because it was the most logical thing to ever do: a boxer to power a boxer. It’s not a Subaru engine, it’s an EJ20 taken (presumably) from an Impreza and an old Legacy. To increase the engine’s power delivery, he bought an off-the shelf turbo.

The performance of the build was enhanced by custom intakes, intakes and exhausts that were 1,000 cc. Custom coil-overs for both the front and back suspensions also increased performance. The interior of the Beetle received drifting hand brakes and racing seats. A full roll cage was also installed. Intakes for the intercooler were also integrated into the rear windows. They’re functional, and not for show.

Although the build is impressive, we want to know more about the setup of the radiator. Performance figures were also revealed, which should be very interesting.
