You could get it for as low as $40,000.
Although the Volkswagen Camper van you see in the attached gallery does not have as many windows , it is still a cool vehicle. This camper is not as original as the original Samba camper, but it does have a fully rebuilt cabin.
It is a 1969 Bus chassis that still has its four drum brakes, but the original engine is gone. The 2.5-liter Subaru-sourced engine has been replaced. According to the seller, the powertrain allows the camper to cruise at 70 mph (113 km/h) and “takes hills easy.” On trips, you can expect to get around 15 mpg.
The top is made of one piece of aluminum mounted on a steel frame that has been covered in aluminum. The dinette converts to a queen-sized bed and there is a second smaller bed that can be used for two. The roof has a solar panel that charges two batteries and powers the water heater, microwave, coffee maker, and coffee pot. A 12-gallon (45-liter), water tank is also available.
According to the current owner, the air conditioner blows cold so that the bus is comfortable even on longer trips. It has a receiver hitch that can pull a small trailer behind. The complete rig can be seen in some photos.
What is the price? The custom camper, located in Saint George (UT), is currently on the market for $40,000 but we are confident that you can negotiate the price. Why is the camper being sold? According to the owner, the reason for the sale is that he started a new camper project, and needs the money, space and time to do it.
