The track also features the modified STI. Although it doesn’t sound fast, the engine sounds incredible.
The Subaru WRX STI performance sedan is versatile. It can be used as an all-weather daily driver, capable of carrying a small family while still providing fun for the parents. A huge aftermarket allows you to turn your car into a WRC replica, which can be used on the track or rally. This guy chose the latter and made his STI a machine that could be driven around a circuit as well as all-wheel-drive.
The car was at the Franciacorta circuit in Italy for a track day. Although the vehicle was originally a 2007 Impreza WRX STi it has been extensively modified by its owner. It is modeled after the 2007 S12B WRC car and features wide fenders, venting hood, roof intake and massive wing with vertical stripes. The rear bumper has a cutout for exhaust.
You will also find extensive modifications underneath the hood. The owner clears out the engine bay and removes any elements not necessary for track work. The filter is re-oriented towards the road by a new intake. There’s also a large intercooler. Remote-reservoir exhausts are mounted on top of the wheel wells.
The interior looks almost stock from a quick view. This STI could be driven daily by someone as long as they don’t mind the loud exhaust.
The driver is not afraid to reduce the car’s power. He shows this by changing from a smokey burnout to an all-wheel drive drift. The STI is a joy to drive on the track. Although it doesn’t seem to be the fastest car on the track, the car looks very engaging thanks to the combination of turbocharged sounds and pops.
