Subaru Viziv Tourer Concept is a Racy AWD Wagon with Boxer Power

Perhaps the Subaru showcar is Subaru’s way to tell us that the WRX wagon will be making a comeback.

Do you yearn for the days when the WRX wagon was still available? Although we don’t want you to be too optimistic, this could be Subaru’s way to tell us that the family-friendly high-performance hauler will be restored to life. The Tourer, which was unveiled today at the Geneva Motor Show is the latest VIZIV concept. It features a wagon body with aggressive lines.

Subaru, like older VIZIV concepts is keeping all details a mystery. However, it does mention that the Tourer uses the company’s symmetrical all wheel-drive system, and that underneath the vented hood is an engine. The car sits on 20-inch alloys, and is intended to be a four-seater. However, images of the interior are not yet available. The car measures in at 4775 mm long, 30 mm wide and 1435 mm high. It has a generous wheelbase of 2730 mm.

Like most other concepts, the VIZIV Tourer is equipped with Subaru’s next-gen EyeSight technology. Two cameras are attached to the windshield’s upper section. Cameras have replaced traditional side mirrors. Door handles were replaced with touch-operated controls that are mounted at the window line. The wagon’s sporty look is complemented by prominent spoiler lips at both the front and back.

Subaru says that all Viziv showcars, starting with the original concept in 2013, foretell its next design and development direction. The Tourer should have an equivalent road-going model in the near future.
