Subaru WRX s4 tS, a Japan-only Nurburgring attack vehicle

STI has created the ultimate edition of the WRX with the CVT for those who want a more powerful version.

Subaru’s high performance STI arm gives us yet another reason to envy Japanese customers. The division will launch the new WRX S4 tS in Japan. Customers who desire more style and performance can choose an optional NBR Challenge Package, which recognizes the WRX’s class victory at the Nurburgring 24 Hours Race.

Although the tS receives many of the chassis and suspension upgrades from the special edition last year, it doesn’t get the full range of engine enhancements available to the more powerful model. A modified intake and new exhaust should make the tS sound better. The turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder produces 296 horsepower (221 Kilowatts) as well as 295 pound-feet (400 Newton-meters) of torque. The limited-edition STI vehicle comes only with Subaru’s CVT. A transmission cooler improves the vehicle’s performance.

STI’s tS work focuses mainly on improving the WRX’s handling on the roads. Upgrades include a flexible tower bar for the front suspension and adjustable damping for the front. New suspension links were also added at the rear by the firm, as well as a flexible subframe support. Brembo four-piston brakes can now be found on the front axle.Customers will likely show off their limited edition WRX. STI has added Cherry Red pinstripes to the rear bumper and mesh grille. It is mounted on 19-inch wheels. Inside, there’s matching trim and the drivers are seated in Recaro high-bolstered seats. Subaru EyeSight 2 driver safety suite comes standard.

The NBR Challenge Package adds some panache to the special edition model but the performance should not be affected. An extra set of 19-inch black wheels is included in the NBR Challenge Package, instead of the standard tS’s silver. A carbon fiber spoiler is located at the rear and a trunk emblem. The company covers the steering wheel with Ultrasuede, and adds a silver stripe to the top.

Japanese buyers who are looking for a more precise handling WRX and CVT should act quickly. The tS is available only from October 4, 2016 through March 12, 2017. Prices for the standard model start at 4.968m yen ($48,000.00) after taxes. The NBR Challenge Package increases the price to 5.292 millions yen ($51,000.
