The Black Panther film will premiere in the United States on February 16, just one week after the Super Bowl.
Although the Super Bowl kickoff is still weeks away, Lexus has already released the extended version of its Super Bowl ad. This spot doubles up as a TV commercial for Marvel’s forthcoming film Black Panther. Chadwick Boseman stars as the titular superhero.
Black Panther rides on top of an 500 and engages in a short fight to retrieve a vial vibranium, the fictional metal that forms Captain America’s shield. The action shifts to Black Panther chasing his F Sport for a grand entrance at a high-end event. The company’s top-of-the-line luxury sedan is captured in shots that highlight its tech, including a large head-up screen and big infotainment screens. There are also multiple driving modes that can affect the display of the instrument when switching between them.
Black Panther will be released in American theaters February 16th. The Super Bowl ad will air on February 4, and millions will see it shortly before its release. This version will air during the third quarter and last only 30 seconds.
Lexus recently tweeted a 30-second highlight reel about the LC 500’s role in Black Panther. It appears that the car is the movie’s star. Black Panther is seen riding on the top of the coupe, and using his suit to pull it onto two wheels so that he can turn a corner.
Lexus’s history with automotive sponsorship in films has been mixed. The Skyjet spacecraft was created by the firm last year for the blockbuster Valerian, and the City of a Thousand Planets. The company’s 2054 idea played a significant role in the successful and highly acclaimed Minority Report movie.
