Supercar Blondie Stages Old Supra Vs New Supra Drag Race

We weren’t expecting exactly the same.

Many were disappointed when Toyota introduced the fifth-generation Supra, which was basically a BMW Z4 disguised. However, the Japanese sports car proved to be a powerful drag racer with its own personality. The 3.0-liter twin-turbo engine, which is 3.0-liters in displacement, is a true tuner’s dream with many options for modification and improvement. The debate over the Supra’s new-versus-old status is still ongoing on all manner of social media platforms and online forums. The Supra Blondie brought the latest 2020 Supra along with a 1998 model to compare the two. Another supercar enthusiast from Blondie joined her and they lined up for a drag race.

We don’t usually spoil the results of drags, but this time we have to address something. The 2020 Supra wins comfortably, but this can be explained by the poor shortshifts on the Supra MK4 when it launched. The modern version has an eight speed automatic gearbox that makes drag racing easy for novices.

Although the gap at the end is large, it’s clear that the 2020 model should be faster in the 1/4-mile drag. The BMW-powered model has been able to go 12.3-12.5 seconds, while the Supra of the 1990s can go 13.5-13.7 seconds. Both figures are for stock cars. We’ve seen many different cars compete in the Supra Drag Race over the past few months. To see all drag videos of the Supra we have shared, go to this link
