This is an exceptional opportunity to see the hatchback in action, considering that only 400 cars are currently available in Europe.
In September 2017, Toyota launched the Japan-focused GR sport car range. The Yaris GRMN is currently the core of this lineup. GRMN-badged models are the most popular version of a nameplate. They will be followed by the midrange GR, and the entry-level GR Sport. The Yaris supermini is currently the only GRMN vehicle, and is also known back in Japan as the Vitz GRMN.
This video focused on one of the Euro-spec cars. It was filmed at 100 mph (160 km/h) and featured the acceleration performance Toyota’s pocket rocket. The Yaris GRMN is a unique offering in the hot hatch segment. It was not bitten down by the downsizing bug as the three-cylinder Ford Fiesta ST. It uses a large-sized 1.8-liter gasoline engine with a supercharger.
Check out the Supercharged Supermini.
Toyota provided a official time of 6.3 seconds to accelerate to 62 mph (100 kph), which is 0.2s less than data from this particular Yaris GTMN. Although it may not be impressive, it is still significantly faster than Volkswagen Polo GTI or the aforementioned Ford Fiesta ST. Both of these vehicles require an additional four tenths to complete the task. The top speed is electronically controlled at 143 mph (230 km/h), which is the same as the GTI’s 237 kph (237 mph) and the ST’s 144 (232 kph).
However, numbers are not always the best indicator of the true story. There’s more to the 209-hp Yaris than just its unique engine. Although it might take some time to get used to the styling, we all can agree that it is quite good. It should be agile and quick around corners, despite its weight of just 1,135 kg (2,502 lbs). However, the Suzuki Swift Sport, which weighs in at 970 kg (2.138 lbs), is significantly lighter.
The Yaris GRMN could be a sign that things are going to get faster Toyotas. Toyota has already hinted at a Auris / Corolla Hatchback GR. The new Supra is an obvious candidate for the Gazoo Racing Masters at Nurburgring treatment.
