Suzuki Introduces Rebadged Toyota Rav4 PHEV for Europe

This fall, sales will start.

Suzuki has added the new Across plug in hybrid SUV to its European utility range. The model is essentially a rebadged version Toyota’s RAV4 PrimePHEV. It is the first result of the collaboration between Japan and Toyota .

Although there is no way to mistake the Toyota underpinnings beneath the body, the Across has a few visual changes that make it stand out from the original. The front fascia has been redesigned with a bigger grille and more modern LED headlights. The front profile is almost unchanged, and the same situation at the back. The eco-friendly SUV will come in six colors when it goes on sale in Europe this fall.

The Across is a plug-in hybrid vehicle that uses a 2.5-liter gasoline engine. It’s supported by two electric motors for each axle and a 18.1-kWh floor-mounted battery pack. The four-cylinder combustion engine produces 173 horsepower (129kilowatts), and the electric motors add 180 hp (134 kW) and 54 hp respectively. Although the combined output of the RAV4 PrimePHEV has not been disclosed, it produces 302 horsepower (225 kW), and we expect that the Across will have the same peak output.

Rear torque variation can vary from 100:00 to 20.80 depending on the conditions. Trail mode is also available on the Across. This is an automatic limited slip differential control that provides “the best possible grip” and control on slippery surfaces.
