Suzuki Vitara gets a nose job, new engines for 2019

New engines and a variety of safety devices on board make the SUV svelte.

Suzuki has updated the SUV that is Juke-rivalling, the Vitara, for 2019, with many technological and aesthetic improvements. Although there is little to be noticed at first, Suzuki enthusiasts might notice the new alloy wheels designs, updated front grille, and LED tail lights. Two new colors were also introduced.

Suzuki has made the dashboard more tactile by changing the materials, and the cluster of instruments gets a central color information display.

The Vitara is equipped with a choice of 1.0-liter or 1.4-liter turbocharged gasoline engines. These replace the 1.6-liter engine. The 1.0-liter engine produces 110 horsepower (82kW) in the UK. The SZ4 and SZ-T basic variants come standard, while the SZ5 models will receive the larger 1.4 liter turbocharged unit producing 140 HP (104 kW).

On SZ-T models with manual gearboxes, four-wheel drive can be added.

The Vitara’s onboard technology has also been updated. The Japanese brand promised to make the Suzuki the most technically advanced Suzuki.

Other safety gadgets include traffic sign recognition and blind spot monitoring systems, which alert the driver if another car is detected in blind spots above the driver’s shoulders.

In September, sales across Europe will start.
