The modified Colorado includes stronger parts for the transmission and transfer case as well as driveshafts to handle more power.
The Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 is a rugged pickup right out of the box. However, Special Vehicle Engineering (SVE), now offers a more powerful version. The company’s Xtreme Off Road version has 750 horsepower (559 kilowatts), and 600 pound-feet (814 Nms) of torque thanks to a supercharged 5.3 liter V8 with upgraded internals.
The Colorado ZR2 can be ordered from Chevy with either a 3.6-liter V6 making 308 horsepower (230 kW), or a turbodiesel four-cylinder of 2.8-liters making 181 horsepower (135 kW). The Xtreme Off Road engine from SVE has about 2.4x more power than its most powerful stock engine.
SVE also installed a new heavy-duty, eight-speed automatic transmission. A beefier transfer box is also available. You can also expect stronger driveshafts.
SVE can also fit a custom stainless-steel cat-back exhaust. It comes with dual tips and is available in either a polished black or satin black finish. Upgraded front brakes feature 13.6 inch slotted rotors and red six-piston calipers with the Xtreme emblem. Stock rear brakes are still available.
Below is a complete walkaround video of Xtreme including interior and undercarriage.
The Xtreme Off Road has a four-inch suspension lift, and heavy-duty traction bars. The truck is equipped with 18-inch wheels and Nitto Recon Grappler tires.
SVE also modifies the truck’s exterior. The composite hood insert matches the truck’s body and features flat black inserts. Fender flares are more prominent. The body is decorated with Xtreme logos. There are also options such as a full-size spare tire carrier, a sport bar with spotlights over the cab, or retractable side steps.
The changes inside are minor. The Xtreme logo is on the floor mats and headrests. As an option, buyers can request custom-made seat trim.
SVE plans to only build 50 units for the Xtreme Off Road. They are priced at $85,000 but buyers will need to provide the Colorado ZR2 Crew Cab Short Box truck for a donor vehicle.
