Take a look inside the Mini Cooper JCW GP

Are you looking for 300 horsepower on the front wheels? Yes, please.

Through the past few months, the Mini Cooper John Cooper Works GP Edition has been a regular visitor to our pages. We have more spy shots of the hot hatch. This gives us a glimpse inside the cabin. Although we don’t know much from what we see it, it is something.

The instrument cluster has undergone some significant changes. The rev counter is gone, and will be replaced with a rounder screen with a digital display at the center. There are also two Alcantara leather sports bucket seats, but everything else in the cabin is pretty much the same.

The remaining spy photos show a camouflaged prototype for the hatch, which is seen lapping the Nurburgring. It also looks very fast in the corners. The car will get a wider bodykit as well as a fixed roof wing, as previous spy photos confirmed. These photos also show modifications to the bumpers.

We don’t have any details about the engine underneath the hood at the moment. However, we are betting Mini will install the 2.0-liter turbocharged four from the BMW X2 under its JCW GP hood. This motor produces 302 horsepower (225kilowatts) in the sporty crossover. We expect similar results for the hardcore hatch.

The JCW GP will be the most powerful and fastest production Mini ever thanks to a host of other improvements. The JCW GP has a stiffer suspension, performance tires, and better brakes than the regular model. It also weighs less. The JCW GP is one of the most unique models in the brand’s modern history, with only 3,000 copies planned for production.
