This is a great result.
The facelifted Hyundai I30 N was a significant upgrade to the previous performance hatchback. To improve the performance of the car on track, a new eight speed, wet-type dual clutch gearbox was added. We have a video that will show you how the new transmission performs in real-world conditions.
One of Sports Auto‘s most recent videos on YouTube takes you to the most difficult track in the world. We are referring to the Nurburgring, where the team behind the YouTube channel pushes the N to the limits. You can see the video at the end of this text. It takes you onboard the South Korean hot hatch.
The i30 N powered by the Performance Package – which is the one you see here – has a turbocharged 2.0-liter turbocharged engine. It produces 276 horsepower (206 kilowatts), and 289 pound feet (392 Newton-meters). The hot hatch should reach speeds of 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 5.9 seconds from a standstill, which is 0.2 seconds faster than the pre-facelift.
The car is very composed on the corners and fast on straights during the Nurburgring run. Christian Gebhardt, SportAuto‘s driver, lapped the Green Hell in 8 minutes and 5 minutes. This time is comparable to lap times for the BMW M3 E92 and Mercedes-Benz CLK63 Black Series. The i30 N was driven on Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tires for this run.
It is important to mention that Sport Auto can have some issues entering the Schwalbenschwanz portion of the track. The recording rig stopped running for a second, but the chronometer continues to work fine. Accordingly, 8:05,19 is the correct time.
