He was President of the United States before that.
He had no plans to run for the Oval Office long before that. Cadillac Donald Trump and Donald Trump collaborated to create one of the most rare cars in the world. 1987 was the year Cadillac and Dillinger Coachwork collaborated to design the most luxurious limousine. This was the beginning for many Trump-branded products. But Cadillac’s special edition limousines were the first and only Trump-branded automobiles.
This episode of Ridiculous rides is courtesy of Barcroft Cars YouTube. We take a look at one the two Trump Edition limousines. Although fifty were initially planned, only two were made. For whatever reason, Trump and Cadillac didn’t follow through with the rest. These Cadillac Broughams powered by a 5.0-liter V8 and 150 horsepower were heavily modified. They had gold plated emblems, phone antenna, pinstripes, keys, and even a gold-plated key. The built-in TV with VCR player has a boomerang antenna.
The inside is extravagant, with rosewood and gold-plated elements. There’s an alcohol dispenser, Italian leather with wool carpets and retractable picnic tables, as well as a Blaupunkt stereo system. A fax machine with paper shredder is also included. The limousine’s rear roof was raised to provide more headroom.
Although it isn’t as large and tech-savvy as Trump’s actual presidential limousine, it now resides in Brian Gram’s Volo Auto Museum, Illinois. This rare car serves as a time capsule of the 1980s, and is one of the most unusual and rarest cars ever made.
