The interior design is beautiful and features wood-and leather.
Taraschi teased its upcoming return late last month with a photo of its new model. Although the darkened image made it difficult to see some details of the car, the curvy bodywork was obvious. The company has now revealed the model, called the Berardo. It is sleek and has four prominent rounded fenders, a nod to the 65-year-old race cars that the company made.
The BMW i8 is hidden beneath the curvy exterior. It was inspired by the 1953 Giaur 750 Champion Sport. It has a unique aluminum exterior made by hand that has been extended in length. The coupe’s oval-shaped, upright headlights are flanked by a small, oblong grille. This gives it a large face. A prominent hood vent is located behind the grille. The rear is clean and round, with a stylish diffuser and dual exhaust pipes at the center.
There are some BMW switches and parts of the dashboard that remain from the German car. They are difficult to ignore. The HVAC vents, infotainment screen, shift lever, and other components stand out. The rest of the interior has been completely redone with a rich dark brown theme that combines wood and leather. Taraschi also gave the centre console a new design. However, getting in the car reveals its origins: the Berardo still retains the i8’s butterfly doors.
The hybrid powertrain of the i8 is also used by the Berardo, which combines the 1.5-liter three cylinder mill with an electrical motor. Taraschi tuned the mill to increase its 374 horsepower (278kilowatts), to 420hp (313kW). Two other tunes can increase the power to either 470 horsepower (350 kW), or a staggering 520 horsepower (387 kW), which are both impressive amounts for a 1,500-kilogram (3.300-pound) car. The tuned powertrain can propel the car to speeds of 62 mph (100 km/h) in 3.9 seconds and a maximum speed of 173 miles (280 kph). BMW may be dead, but the i8 lives on in a new version.
