Tata Curvv Concept Introduces A Stylish Coupe-SUV EV from India

Within the next two-years, a production version of this product will be available.

Tata Motors has unveiled a new concept car. This is the same company that used to have the world’s most affordable new car. It’s not a prototype for a new city car, but it is a stylish coupe-SUV with all-electric powertrain. Friends, welcome to the Tata Curvv. This previews the brand’s future design language, and will transform into a production model in the next two years.

The Curvv was designed to provide the best balance between performance and appearance. Although the overall vehicle looks a lot like the Renault Arkana, we must admit that the Curvv’s shorter overhangs make it appear sportier than European counterparts. This concept does not have door handles. Instead, small cameras replace the side-mirrors.

The LED strip at the back is a very interesting design feature. It follows the contour of the rear windows. The split-design spoiler acts as a separator between boot lid and panoramic roof. Below the light element is another LED strip that connects the taillights. Interior design follows a similar minimalist pattern with a flat dashboard and a large, tablet-style display above it. The HVAC panel features capacitive touch buttons, and there is also a floating console with a rotary selector. The dashboard’s finish matches the steering wheel, with a blue leather outer circle and a nice fabric inner circle. A smaller screen gives basic information about the vehicle as well as the journey.

Tata has announced that the production version for the Curvv concept will launch within the next two-years, with the all-electric model being the first. The company’s Generation 2 electric platform will be used to build the model. It will also be available with hybrid and combustion powertrains. We believe that if the production model incorporates at least 70% or 80 percent the design, it will be a very attractive product. It will only be sold in India, unfortunately.
