Upgrades include a suspension lift and a new hitch.
Taxa Outdoors has expanded the range of 2021 camping trailers it offers by adding more versatility. The company announced that it will launch two new overlanding campers, the Mantis and TigerMoth models. It also updated its Cricket Overland model to reflect the new model year. They get a trio of upgrades: a new hitch and new wheels as well as an upgraded suspension.
The Lock ‘n roll hitch provides three-axis movement with 360 degrees rotation. Taxa has it paired with a Timbren axleless suspension with four-inch suspension lift. This eliminates the limitations of the thruxle design. The trailer is quiet thanks to rubber springs and urethane bushings. The alloy wheels are wrapped in Cooper Discover AT3LT all-terrain tires. Taxa claims that the tires are capable of handling dirt, gravel, light snow and even “the urban jungle”.
Although the Cricket Overland was available already, 2021 will see some upgrades to the trailer, including a new driver-side window, additional storage, and a rear window for the driver. The trailer features the same overlanding upgrades that the other campers and a NASA-inspired design. The new Cricket starts at $38,950, which is about the same price as the other Overland models. This is more spacious than the $24,950 TigerMoth but less than the $49,950 Mantis Overland. Enjoy your camping experience.
