Just like Tesla promised.
Porsche broke the Nurburgring EV lap record with its Taycan hybrid vehicle. Tesla was eager to match the German automaker. A few days after Porsche’s announcement, modified Tesla Model S sedans were photographed lapping the legendary track. Tesla promised to be back in October. Two modified Tesla Model S sedans were captured at the track in spy photos. They look quite different.
Tesla’s Aiming For Porsche:
The most obvious difference is the presence of air outlets at the front fender, just behind the wheels. These air outlets could cool the brakes and help with aerodynamics. Another difference is the massive rear diffuser, which is hidden under the rear bumper. This could aid in aerodynamics and downforce. The modifications made in the past, including the wider grille opening, carbon ceramic brakes, rear spoiler and wider fenders, are still in effect.
It’s possible that Tesla has already unofficially beaten Porsche’s 7 minutes 42 laps around the track. We reported last month that Tesla might be. Porsche’s time was beaten by 20 seconds . But, Tesla could beat Porsche’s record. You may be able set a faster lap time . Porsche set a new record at Nurburgring by lapping the Taycan Turbo and setting a new record. However, the Turbo S can produce 751 horsepower (560 kW) in an emergency.
Tesla must offer modifications to its cars to the public in order to beat Porsche. This is what Tesla CEO Elon Musk stated would happen with his Plaid package. It’s possible that Tesla will set a new lap time at the track. It is not clear how long it will last.
