Despite multiple attempts, the crossover EV succeeded.
Moose testing is both educational and amusing. It doesn’t matter if the car is a luxury or non-luxury brand. It fails the test if the car fails it. There are no ifs or buts.
We have learned one thing about the moose testing we have done in the past: Teslas perform very well. We have seen the results. Model 3 Aces the Test Before, while a real world and impromptu test with a moose saw involved a Model S safely maneuver Its driver was uninjured. So when the km77.com posted the same test for a model Y, we expected that the crossover EV would pass it. It did.
The embedded video shows that the Model Y cleared the cones at 83 km/h (52 miles/h), despite having a slightly higher ground clearance. This matches the Model 3 record set by the same testers.
According to km77, the Model Y’s excellent steering feel and its good ESC and suspension setups make it easy to control in difficult situations.
Although they scored lower than the Model Y, cross-over EVs such as the VWID.4 or the Mazda MX-30 did well in the moose testing. The Mercedes-AMG A45S and the VW Passat Variant, which are low-riding, failed the same test. It was also slower than the Model Y at 75 km/h (47 MPH).
However, the Toyota Hilux was the most notorious vehicle to fail the dreaded test of the moose. This midsize pickup has been infamy, so much that many people still believe it to be unsafe after several years.
