Tesla’s Perfect Cybertruck Reveal was Shattered

That’s embarrassing.

Tesla stunned the world last night with the Tesla cybertruck, a revolutionary new electric truck. Its angular, Blade Runner -like design is immediately recognizable and polarizing. The presentation was full of fanfare as Tesla events are often. However, there was one problem. Some are saying that the truck is embarrassing. Elon Musk, Tesla CEO, boasted of the truck’s toughness and even used a sledgehammer on the body. He also wanted to show that toughness by throwing an iron ball at the truck’s side windows. As you can see, it didn’t go according to plan.

The ball strikes with a cringeworthy crack, which covers the driver’s windshield in a web-like fissures. Although it doesn’t break the glass, this is a notable result. However, it is not what Musk intended to display when demonstrating Cybertruck’s Armor glass. Musk attempts to downplay his embarrassment, saying “Well, maybe it was a little bit too hard.” Musk then agrees to have the ball thrown to the back window. The results are the exact same: a window covered with cracks, something that’s clearly not intended.

This embarrassing incident should not detract anything from the next model Musk has created for Tesla. Although it doesn’t look like any truck, it does have a standard 6.5-foot bed and tailgate. It also has a tonneau covering.

The Cybertruck, like other Teslas, will be available with multiple powertrains. It can either have a single motor / rear-wheel drive setup, a dual motor / all wheel-drive setup or a trimotor / allwheel-drive arrangement. The single-motor, RWD model starts at $39,000. The range is 250 miles and the 0-60 times are 6.5 seconds. This model is priced at $69,000 and offers 500 miles of range. It also has a 14,000-pound rating for towing. It can reach 60 in just 2.9 seconds.

This is a bold statement that could transform the way consumers see trucks. It may even end the century-long dominance of the Big Three in this segment. The Cybertruck will be in production by the end of 2021. Tesla isn’t having the best luck with new products being released on time, just like last night’s presentation.
