Barn finds are wonderful, especially when they are free.
There is nothing better than finding a motorhome barn. It’s a free one. This is what the Boudreaux family found in this YouTube video, courtesy Roadschool.
The family head, Mr. Boudreaux, has always wanted to see a VW Bus restored. He was informed by a coffee chat that there is a VW Bus that had been sitting on a Montana property for a while. The property sellers wanted to sell the camper so they drove to retrieve it. However, the Dodge Tradesman was actually a 1972 Dodge Tradesman.
Although the motorhome had been abandoned, the Boudreaux family rescued it. This motorhome base is perfect for restoration because it had a roll-over tent and a raised roof. They brought along a small compressor to move the vehicle.
However, the Dodge’s main doors and windows were jammed so that the Boudreaux family had no choice but to enter. The inside of the van was in terrible condition. Although the space was not large, it could easily accommodate a two-person camper. The counter was large enough to accommodate a stove, a bed and some storage. These will all be removed in preparation for restoration.
According to their road trip website, the family will no longer keep the 1972 Dodge Tradesman camper. This is likely due to their desire to find a VW Bus to restore. After the family has the vehicle up and running, a friend will take over the restoration. If you are interested, a new video will be posted on April 18, 2022 to show if they can start the van.
The Boudreaux family, a 7-member family, is currently on a journey to all 50 states in the United States and “paddleboard” in each of them. The Boudreaux’s left their suburban home and began the journey in an RV. They also noted that their children are currently being educated on the road. This is why the name of the channel and website.
