British media managed to determine what power will be next year’s facelifted Porsche Boxster, and Cayman duo.
Porsche has already revealed that the Boxster and Cayman will get a mid-cycle revision. CAR now provides additional information. Both models will be equipped with a 2.0-liter turbo engine producing 240 horsepower, while the more powerful S versions will have a 2.5-liter engine that produces 300 horsepower. The Boxster GTS will use the same 2.5-liter turbocharged flat-four engine, but it will be tuned to produce 370 horsepower.
Flat-four engines will be equipped with one fixed-vane turbocharger. However, engineers from Stuttgart will later implement e-turbo technology in order to increase power and reduce turbo lag. The report also identifies the Boxster Spyder, Cayman GT4 that will be used in conjunction with the larger 3.8-liter flat six normally aspirated engine.
CAR reports that Porsche is planning to position the Cayman lower than the Boxster in certain markets to increase sales and broaden awareness.
