The 2017 BMW 5 Series is available in the U.S. starting at $52,195

BMW offers a wide range of options to buyers for the 530i, 540i and other models.

The brand new 2017 BMW 5 Series will be available in showrooms across the United States starting February 11, 2017. A base 530i will set buyers back $52,195, which includes a $995 destination charge, or $54,495 when xDrive is added. The 540i will also go on sale for $57,445 and $59,745 respectively with xDrive. BMW will launch the 550i xDrive and 530e in the US lineup this spring. Pricing will be announced closer to the launch.

The new 5 Series is now equipped with a CLAR platform from BMW, which allows the sedan to lose 137 pounds over the previous generation. The 2.0-liter turbocharged four cylinder in the 530i has 248 horsepower (185 Kilowatts) as well as 258 pound-feet (349.8 Newton meters) of torque. The sedan can reach 60 mph in 6.0 seconds, or 5.8 seconds with xDrive. The 3.0-liter turbocharged six-cylinder engine in the 540i produces 335 horsepower (250 kW) as well as 332 lb.ft (450 Nm). Rear-wheel drive can reach 60 mph in 4.9 seconds, while all-wheel drive can reach 60 in 4.7 seconds. This pair is powered by an eight-speed automatic transmission. Even the smallest versions of this model will include adaptive LED headlights, iDrive version 6.0, as well as BMW’s Active Protection, Fatigue, Focus Alert and Fatigue.

Buyers have the option to add several options, including three levels driver aids. For $1,800, the standard Driving Assistance Package includes parking assistance, head-up display and active park distance controller. It also includes a rear view camera. Driving Assistance Plus adds blind spot detection, daytime motorist protection, frontal collision warning and lane departure warning to the $1,400 price tag. Driver Assistance Plus II adds active cruise control and lane keeping assistance, traffic jam aid, and front crosstraffic alert for $1,700.

BMW also offers more traditional upgrades such as the M Sport Package, which costs $2,650. The M Sport Package adds a new 19-inch wheel design, wood or aluminium interior trim, tweaked bodies kit, dark window trim, and a modified body kit. Performance upgrades include the M Sport suspension and Dynamic Damper Control, which cost an additional $700. Customers with 540i can also add adaptive drive, controllable dampers and active roll stability for an additional $3,000.

A Luxury Package, which costs $500, covers the dashboard in BMW SensaTec material. It also adds luxury trim. The Premium Package, which costs $2,300 for the 530i or $1,950 for the 540i, adds keyless entry, adaptive LED headlights and wireless charging to the dashboard.
