The sedan is larger, lighter and features more standard tech. There are also physical dials to adjust the stereo volume or tune.
For 2018, the Honda Accord will enter its tenth year. It features a refined new design, a revised powertrain lineup and standard Honda Sensing tech for driver assistance. A more aluminum-intensive platform has resulted in a smaller sedan’s weight than the previous model. The lineup will not include a coupe. The new Accord would look great in Acura’s lineup. It even looks better than the badges. The new sedan has a 2.16 inch (55 millimeters) longer wheelbase, but it is 0.39 inches (10mm) shorter overall. The four-door sedan has a more athletic appearance due to its 0.39-inch (10mm) width increase and 0.59-inch (15mm drop in height. The chassis uses more aluminum and ultra high-strength steel, which means the weight of the new generation is 110 to 176 pounds (50-80 kilograms), depending on the trim.
The 2018 Accord has a nearly 2-inch (51 mm), increase in rear legroom. Honda also moved the front seats inward to give passengers more shoulder and hip room. Outward visibility should be improved by a lower cowl and 20% narrower A-pillars. The Hybrid’s trunk space increases by 3.2 cubic feet, while the volume for models powered by combustion is increased by 1 cubic foot. This is because the battery pack can now fit under the floor. Honda revamps the Accord’s engine line-up in 2018. The 1.5-liter turbocharged turbocharged four-cylinder is the new base powertrain. It produces 192 horsepower (143kilowatts) as well as 192 poundfeet (226 Newton-meters of torque), compared to 185 hp (128 kW) or 181 lb-ft (245Nm) from the 2.4-liter naturally aspirated mill. The base powertrain comes standard with a CVT. However, the Sport trim offers a six-speed manual.
A 2.0-liter turbocharged four cylinder is available for the sedan. This produces 252 horsepower (188 kW), and 273lb-ft(370 Nm), as opposed to 278hp (277 kW) or 252lb (342 Nm), in the existing 3.5 liter V6. The mill can be connected to either a 10-speed automatic transmission or the Sport trim, which offers a six speed manual. Honda has not yet revealed exact specifications, but the Accord Hybrid (pictured below) features a 2.0-liter four cylinder that runs on the Atkinson cycle as well as two electric motors. It will be revealed by Honda closer to its launch.
The 2018 Accord is a technological marvel. Every buyer receives standard Honda Sensing, which includes features such as collision mitigation braking and lane departure warning. The digital display is 7 inches (178 mm) between the instruments. A new 8-inch (253 mm) infotainment unit is also available. The best thing about the system is that there are physical knobs to adjust volume and tune. The Touring model comes with a 6-inch (152mm) head-up display as well as adaptive dampers. The 2018 Accord will go on sale in the United States starting this fall. Honda will soon announce the pricing and fuel economy.
