The 2018 Kia Ceed Sportswagon arrives in Geneva with a huge trunk

The cargo capacity of 600 liters is greater than wagons in the same segment.

The South Korean manufacturer Kia isn’t wasting time. After unveiling its third-generation Ceed hatchback last month, the company is now ready for the release of its practical companion. The new Sportswagon is 20 millimeters smaller and 20 mm larger than its predecessor. It has an extended rear overhang that allows for a large trunk capable of holding up to 600 liters. This makes it more practical than some midsize wagons.

The 2018 Ceed Sportswagon is more than a mere evolution of its predecessor. It rides on Kia’s new K2 platform, which brings better packaging and a larger interior despite having a lower roofline. You can access the trunk, which we mentioned at the beginning, by purchasing the electricly operated tailgate. It is 14 percent larger than the one in the old wagon. Split-folding rear seats can be used to increase trunk space. They have a 40/20:40 configuration, and when folded down you will have a flat load floor. To increase practicality, a luggage floor rail system, safety net and net to secure small objects are all available.

The styling is identical to the hatchback, as you might expect. However, it has a rear end with two BMW-esque taillights that make the Ceed Sportswagon appear larger and more powerful. The rear bumper’s “vents” could be omitted. If the trunk is too large, roof rails are available as an option.

The new compact wagon was developed in Europe by Europe. It features a turbocharged, 1.0-liter gasoline engine that produces 120 horsepower and three cylinders. The 1.4-liter engine produces 140 horsepower, while the entry-level model is powered by a naturally-aspirated 1.4-liter with 100 horsepower. A new 1.6-liter CRDi engine with 115 or 136.6 hp and 207 pound feet (280 Newton-meters), of torque is available. All engines can be linked to a 6-speed manual transmission, but the 1.4 turbo or 1.6 diesel can optionally be mated to an optional seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Kia can sell you a Ceed Sportswagon, depending on your budget. The touchscreen will be a touchscreen with an infotainment system that features navigation. Mirror Link, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and Mirror Link allow you to connect your smartphone to your car’s infotainment system. An optional JBL sound system allows you to play your favorite music.

There are many options available, from heated windscreens to driving modes and more. The C-segment wagon has seven airbags, high beam assist, forward collision avoidance assist, lane keeping assistance, and smart parking. These systems will make driving easier and protect you from any potential dangers.

The Ceed Sportswagon will be available in Europe by Kia starting in the fourth quarter. The Ceed Sportswagon will be on display in Geneva, alongside the five-door hatchback.
